Jikoji Temple (Japan Heritage Site)

At the beginning of the slope, Jikoji Temple stands with its massive stone gate. Here you will find a Buddhist painting of the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, a national treasure that speaks to the prosperity of Onomichi, and whose merit extends life. At Jikoji Temple, you can have fun making your own "Nigiri Buddha" by squeezing it.

Maneki-neko Museum

This tiny art museum was created by remodeling a Taisho-era private home.
The first floor houses the Maneki Neko Shrine, and the second floor displays a collection of approximately 3,000 Maneki Neko figures collected from all over Japan.
Some of them are rare items from the Edo period.

Senkoji Park, Senkoji Temple (Japan Heritage Site)

Senkoji Temple is a symbol of Onomichi. Many tourists who visit Onomichi make the pilgrimage to this temple. In spring, Senkoji Park is decorated with cherry blossoms, which have been selected as one of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots," and in autumn, the Onomichi Light Festival is held, allowing you to enjoy the changing scenery of the seasons.

Onomichi History Museum (former Onomichi Bank Head Office) (Japan Heritage)

Onomichi is the birthplace of Hiroshima. The former Onomichi Bank head office, located in a corner of the port town where financial institutions lined the streets, was nicknamed "Bank Beach," and still conveys the image of Onomichi as a commercial city.
