This temple has a deep connection with the Ashikaga family, and is also famous as a temple where Takauji Ashikaga prayed for victory during the Kyushu campaign (1586–87) and the Battle of Minatogawa (5 July 1336). The tea room “Roteki-an (National Important Cultural Property),” which is said to have been relocated from Fushimi Castle in Kyoto in the back garden, is an important building that conveys the tea room of that time to the present.
