Special Exhibition "Adrian Berg: Infinity Gardens" [Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art]

Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art is pleased to present "Adrian Berg: Infinity Gardens," the artist's (1929-2011) first solo exhibition in Japan.
Berg consistently pursued landscape painting from the early stages of his career until the end of his life, and is known in particular for repeatedly painting Regent's Park in England, where he had his studio, for around 20 years from the 1960s.
His unique style, which weaves multiple spatial expressions and different timelines into a single canvas, has since shown further development as his subject matter has expanded to include gardens across Britain and landscapes from his travels.

The title of this exhibition, "Infinite Gardens," not only expresses Berg's pictorial exploration of the theme of "gardens," but also refers to the nature depicted there, which changes endlessly with the weather, the position of the sun, and the changing seasons.
This exhibition will be the first in Japan to survey Berg's artistic career, spanning approximately 50 years, and will feature a wealth of related materials, showcasing works from his early years to those produced in his later years.
