Kimura Ihei: Living in Photography [Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum]

One of Japan's leading photographers, Kimura Ihei (1901-1974), was one of the first to recognize the potential of photographic expression in compact cameras, which first came into practical use in the 1920s, and established a reputation for his quick snapshots of everyday life.
This exhibition looks back on the work of Kimura Ihei, who left a significant mark on the history of photography, through a selection of approximately 165 works that convey the beauty of human activities, including stage photographs of Kabuki and other performances, color film works created during his time in Europe, and a series capturing rural Akita.
