Hiroshima City Museum of Art Collection Exhibition, Part I: Exquisite Beauty in Prints / Life and Tableware: West and Japan

This exhibition features prints and ceramic works, which are central to our museum's collection, and focuses on the beauty of the details. "Captivating with Prints" will focus on the "prints" created during the printmaking process, while "Life and Vessels: West and Japan" will introduce the "beauty of vessels" that breathes life into the culture of daily life.
In "Captivating Through Printmaking," we focus not only on the finished prints, but also on the woodblocks, copperplate etchings, and lithograph plates created during the process leading up to them. Enjoy the profound world of printmaking through the beauty of the meticulous handiwork embodied in the engraved lines. In some parts, you will be able to touch the woodblocks and examine the plates under a magnifying glass, experiencing firsthand the delicate beauty of the "plates" that artists dedicate the most time and effort to creating.
Furthermore, "Lifestyle and Ceramics: West and Japan" will showcase ceramics that reflect the lifestyles and cultures of both the West and Japan, featuring works by Bernard Leach, Old Noritake, and Miyagawa Kozan, which have been recently acquired, as well as tea and sake sets by contemporary ceramic artists. Please take a look at these Western and Japanese ceramics, which were created to combine practicality with aesthetic beauty while reflecting the times and trends.
