A place of prayer for prayers for the protection of the sea, enshrining the god of Hiruji and Susanomei no Mikoto since the 17th century.

It began as a shrine to the god of leeches and Susanoo no Mikoto during the Kan'ei period (1624-1643) in order to appease the spirits of leeches. It is located on a hill on Ise Island, which has long been revered as an island inhabited by spirits, and it is said that the shrine also once enshrined Princess Sai. Known as a place of prayer for protection at sea, the one-bay shrine is built in the Nagare-zukuri style. When it was rebuilt, the construction was commissioned to carpenters from Ise Grand Shrine, who are said to have spent years building it with joinery without using nails, and the magnificent wooden structure still exudes the grandeur of the time.
