The temple's name is Fukujuin, and it was founded in 937. Remains include the principal image, the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva, said to have been made by Gyoki, and a plaque said to have been handwritten by Taira no Kiyomori. It is said that Kiyomori held a grand memorial service for three days and three nights, praying for the prosperity of his clan. This temple is the 22nd temple of the Thirty-Three Kannon Temples of Aki Province. In spring, the weeping cherry blossoms behind the pine trees hand-planted by Taira no Kiyomori are beautiful.
