Shimizu Town, Kure City Former Kure City General Ujigami
Kameyama Shrine is revered as the "guardian deity" of Kure City, which flourished as a naval port city, and is enshrined on a hilltop overlooking Kure Bay. Hachiman Shrine is said to have three great divine virtues: good luck in winning, safe childbirth, and academics, and is visited by many people to pray for victory for professional baseball players and J-Leaguers with ties to Kure, for exam candidates who are praying for success in exams, and for safe childbirth through purification of belly bands, as well as for the safety of Kure citizens' homes, safety on the roads, and protection from misfortune as the guardian deity of Kure.
