In 2026, A-bomb Dome (Atomic Bomb Dome) and Itsukushima Shrine will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their designation as World Heritage Sites.
We will widely disseminate information about the value, history, and preservation and transmission efforts of the two World Heritage sites, and hold various commemorative events to encourage many people to visit Hiroshima and experience its diverse attractions, including Hiroshima history, nature, and culture.
Panel Exhibition Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of World Heritage Site Registration
We will be holding a panel exhibition introducing the value, history, and preservation and transmission efforts of A-bomb Dome (Atomic Bomb Dome) and Itsukushima Shrine. The panel exhibition will include English and Braille translations, and will also feature a "flip-the-flap quiz corner" for children, making it accessible to a wide audience. The 13th World Heritage Summit will be held to share various challenges facing World Heritage sites within the World Heritage sites themselves, and to widely disseminate information about World Heritage. The event will include lectures on World Heritage and a meeting of mayors and other officials from municipalities with World Heritage sites. [Date] November 28, 2026
A digital stamp rally will be held, centering on A-bomb Dome (Atomic Bomb Dome) and Itsukushima Shrine, and visiting surrounding tourist facilities. Enjoy walking around the city and sightseeing while visiting various spots in Hiroshima along with these two World Heritage sites. [Event Period] November 2026 - January 2027
On January 31, 2027, the final day of the digital stamp rally, we will be holding a special event where you can enjoy a walk around Hiroshima while visiting stamp rally spots and event-exclusive locations. Train commemorating the 30th anniversary of World Heritage site designation
A specially wrapped tram will operate on the tram line connecting A-bomb Dome (Atomic Bomb Dome) and Miyajima-guchi to promote the 30th anniversary of their World Heritage designation.
