It is a temple that is said to have been opened in the Nara period and is built near the summit of a mountain with an altitude of about 500m overlooking the Saijo Basin. The kitchen and Sumidan in the main hall, built in the 15th century, are designated as national important cultural properties and are large-scale and colorful. It is believed that Mr. Ouchi of Yamaguchi, who built Kagamiyama Castle, donated it, and in addition to this, letters such as Emperor Go-Daigo and Terumoto Mori are also transmitted. There are giant trees such as Sugi, Aesculus turbinata, and Japanese Ternstroemia in the precincts, and it is designated as a natural monument of the prefecture. In addition, about 60 types and 1,800 shakunage trees have been planted, and various colors of shakunage are in full bloom from late April to early May.
