This is a historic shrine that is said to have been enshrined and founded in 861. A grand festival is held every year on the first Sunday of October, and the Shinto procession that takes place there has been designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of the city. In addition, within the grounds, there is a stone monument and a ceramic wall inscribed with a poem, as the Kazahaya district in which the shrine is located is an area associated with the Manyoshu.
