Blessings are the guardian deity of the sea, protection from drowning, traffic safety, physical strength, and healthy longevity.

It is located about 3 kilometers east of Mihara Station on National Route 2. The area was called Idozaki (later Itozaki) and the district was called Suicho (later Mitocho), due to the legend that Empress Jingu offered water to the shrine when her ship was moored on her way back from a western expedition. The shrine was founded in 729. Within the grounds, there is a monument to the "Funetsugi no Matsu" (Boat-attaching Pine), where Empress Jingu is said to have moored her warships, and a camphor tree that is a city natural monument and is said to be about 500 years old.
