Sanyo Rai's uncle Kyotsubo served as Miyoshi Town Magistrate's residence

It is a single-story thatched house of approximately 130 square meters located in an area known as the old buildings in Miyoshi-cho, Miyoshi City. Also known as Unpekikyo, it was the official residence of Rai Sanyo's uncle Kyohei, who served as the Miyoshi magistrate at the time. Kyohei was born in 1756 to a wealthy merchant in Takehara City, Kon'ya, and served the Asano Domain of Hiroshima as a teacher of Confucianism together with his brother Shunsui, leading the way in preaching religious teachings. In 1813, when he was nearly 60 years old, he became the magistrate of Miyoshi, Esu, Mikami, and Nakkan, and administered the affairs of Bihoku, a region with a tradition of peasant uprisings, with the stabilization of the people's livelihood as his number one priority. He served as the Miyoshi magistrate for three years from 1828.
