A priest's house said to be built in the 17th century
This is a private house built at the end of the 17th century (early Edo period). It was the home of a priest of Moriwaki Hachiman Shrine and has five rooms, including a "takama" (a common space) characteristic of a priest's house, a "daya" (a space for raising cattle), and a "doma" (a dirt floor) for farm work. The pillars were carved with a tool called a hand axe, and the house has a 20.6m span and 10.9m bay, and is built in the irimoya style with a thatched roof. It has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
