A facility where you can learn more about the history and culture of Otanosho, Bingo Province
Otasho in Bingo Province became the imperial estate of Emperor Goshirakawa in 1166 thanks to a donation made by Shigehira, son of Taira no Kiyomori. After the downfall of the Taira clan, the land was donated to Koyasan in Kishu to raise funds for memorial services for the Taira clan, and the Kamakura Temple was built as the center of Otasho management. The Otasho History Museum is located at the foot of Kamakura-san, a Hiroshima Prefecture historic site, on the site of Seido-in Temple. It displays designated cultural properties and information on Otasho in Bingo Province, which flourished for about 300 years starting in the Heian period, as well as the historical and environmental background that led to the establishment of Otasho, by era. Kamakura-san is well known as a famous spot for cherry blossoms in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall, and you can enjoy beautiful scenery in every season.
