Founded in 1422 by the Shingon sect priest Nontsushi, it was later converted to the Soto sect. Beautiful flower paintings are painted on the ceiling of the Konpira Hall. There are many zen practitioners in the Zazen Hall on the grounds, and the sound of a bell occasionally echoes through the quiet air, giving a sobering feeling.
