The museum houses the art works (Ikeda Collection) donated by the family of the late Ikeda Hayato, a former Prime Minister from Takehara. The Ikeda Collection includes over 150 pieces of calligraphy by the Confucian scholar Sanyo, who had ties to Takehara, as well as works by Kano Hogai, Yokoyama Taikan, Foujita Tsuguharu, Yasui Sotaro, and others.
