An important preservation group of traditional buildings in Takehara, a hall at the northern end of Honmachi-dori

This spot is also familiar from the film "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi. When the salt industry was thriving, this area was called Kamiichi and Shimoichi. Among them, Kodo was worshiped as the guardian deity of commerce in Kamiichi. The festival held every October in hopes of commercial prosperity has become an indispensable event in the town.
