Former residence of Doseki Shioya, a Confucian scholar in the middle of the Edo period
This retro-modern Western-style building was built as a library in the early Showa period. It was originally the former home of Shioya Doseki, a Confucian scholar from the mid-Edo period, and Rai Sanyo's uncle, Shunpu, inherited his aspirations and turned it into a place of learning. Inside the building, the history and materials of the salt industry, which was famous along with Ako salt at the time and brought prosperity to the town, are on display.
