There is a mini 88-temple sacred place on the back mountain, and you can go around it in less than 20 minutes.
In 1587, Kono Michinao of Iyo, who had fled to Takehara after being defeated by the Kobayakawa army, died of an illness. In mourning the death of the latter, Kobayakawa Takakage built the temple and donated 200 koku of land to the temple. In 1644, the Fukuyama monk Kaihen rebuilt the temple and converted it to the Shingon sect. The current main hall was built in 1962, and the grounds include the Konpira Shrine, Daishi Hall, and Koshin Hall.
