It is said to have been built in the 11th year of the reign of Empress Suiko (603) as a subsidiary shrine of Itsukushima Shrine, and enshrines the three deities Kunitokotachi no Mikoto, Oyamazumi no Mikoto, and Saeki Kuramoto, the first priest of Itsukushima Shrine, and is a famous shrine that was granted rice as a shrine territory from the time when Taira no Kiyomori was the governor of Aki to the times of Mori, Fukushima, and Asano. In the past, time-honored religious ceremonies such as the "Crow Food Festival" and the "Farewell of the Four Crows" were also handed down.
