The museum is located in a forest at an altitude of 600m and houses the "Portrait of Reiko," as well as works by Van Gogh and Meissen.

Located in a naturally rich area of Hatsukaichi City where virgin forests remain, this tranquil art museum blends art with the surrounding scenery. The building, uniquely crafted by a building materials manufacturer, utilizes wood for its architecture, creating a tranquil environment where visitors can enjoy the sounds of the virgin forest and the murmuring of a clear stream while savoring the artworks in a tranquil setting.
The extensive collection of approximately 1,000 pieces is centered around modern Japanese paintings, such as Kishida Ryusei's masterpiece, "Portrait of Reiko with a Wool Shoulder Drape," as well as Western masterpieces by Van Gogh and Renoir. In addition, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of masterpieces, including Meissen porcelain, Art Nouveau glasswork, Chinese ceramics, and Meiji-era Satsuma ware. Exhibits are regularly rotated, ensuring a different selection of masterpieces each time you visit.

At the museum's "Café Meissen," visitors can enjoy teatime over Meissen porcelain while gazing out the large windows at the seasonal changes in the forest. The attached shop has a wide selection of original goods, such as note cards and postcards featuring the Reiko statue, making choosing a souvenir of your trip one of the joys of the experience.
If you're visiting by other means than car, we recommend taking a bus from JR Miyauchi Kushido Station and then an express bus from JR Hiroshima Station.
*Due to snowfall, the museum is closed from mid-December to mid-March each year, so please check the opening schedule before visiting.
