It was built in 1657 by the priest Keijun, who descended from the Aki Takeda clan. It is the only temple remaining south of the JR Sanyo Main Line and National Route 2. In 1973, it was rebuilt into the current reinforced concrete structure (the interior of the main hall is wooden). The mountain gate became a bell tower gate at the time of the 14th succession ceremony in 2006.
