This temple was originally a Zen temple, but the head priest, Shinyo, converted it to the Jodo sect. The grounds are filled with seasonal flowers and trees, including red winter cherry blossoms, various camellias, and Kitayama cedars, providing a delight to the eyes of visitors. There are also five stone Jonbutsu Gomannichi Ekoto towers, which have been designated as city cultural properties.
