Located right next to the Mount Senkoji Ropeway foothill station, Konjin Shrine is the oldest shrine in Onomichi, also known as the location for the movie "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time," and is the guardian deity of the area. Around the main hall are large camphor trees that are a prefectural natural monument and are said to be 900 years old. Previously, this shrine had an old map from the Kamakura period called "Kenji 1st Year (1275), Otoi 2nd Month, Mitsuno County, Onomichi Map," which shows that Onomichi's coastline was much further inland than it is today.
