Hachiman Shrine is famous for its pair of Gunbai Lanterns, which have gunbai carved into their bases. The shrine is said to have been founded during the Jogan era (859-877). Two guardian lion statues stand upside down facing each other at the entrance, and the water basin is carved with peonies, and the base supporting it is also decorated with magnificent lion carvings.
