This is a wide-area exchange facility that opened on May 1, 1999. This building, which was opened in conjunction with the opening of the Setouchi Shimanami Kaido, is used for various events to promote exchanges between the towns of the Setouchi area. From the hall that can accommodate as many as 690 people, there is a booth in the lobby on the first floor where you can get tourist information on the Shimanami Kaido. The nickname "Teatro Shelne" is a combination of "Teatro", which means a theater in Italian, "Shell", which is the exterior of the building with the image of a shellfish, and "Renaissance", which is a reproduction.
