Along the shores of Mikazaki, there is a natural stone with a Jizo statue carved into it. Long ago, the Murakami Navy's Mikazaki Ship Magistrate was enchanted by the beauty of a Suo merchant's daughter who had been caught breaking into a checkpoint, and tried to make her his concubine, but she refused, and he became angry and killed her. Since then, the sound of a koto has been heard from the shore every night, and he has been troubled by the ghost of the girl. Legend has it that he carved a Jizo statue into the rock to appease the ghost. It is said that this Nose Jizo can cure illnesses in the lower part of the body, as its lower half is submerged in the sea when the tide is high. It has been customary to pray for a child or safe delivery by taking the stone Jizo statue next to it home, and then, if the wish is granted, to make a stone Jizo statue and offer thanks.
