A temple built at the end of the Kamakura period that still retains its zazen-do hall.

Gokokuzan Zenshoji is a Soto Zen temple founded at the end of the Kamakura period. The zazen hall on the west side of the temple grounds is the only building remaining from the original construction. When the main hall was rebuilt in 1561, the master craftsman Takahashi Hida no Kami Fujiwara Ietsugu was invited from Kyoto to create a corridor with nightingale lining, which uses a unique technique to make a sound when walked on. The zazen hall and nightingale lining are cultural assets designated by Fuchu City.
