Approximately 800 years ago, around the time of Kennin in the Kamakura period, this hot spring was discovered by Hosei Hosei, a national pilgrim, and was designated as a national recreation hot spring area in 1972. It is known as one of the few hot springs in Hiroshima prefecture. It is a colorless, transparent, tasteless and odorless hot water of radioactive radium spring, and it is effective for rheumatism, neuralgia, chronic dermatitis, anemia, and gastrointestinal catarrh.
