A temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, which is also the ruins of Ooka Castle, built on an island connected to land when Tomo Castle was built.
During the Sengoku period, the Murakami Navy clan controlled the maritime rights of the Tomonoura area, a key maritime transportation point, from their base at Ogashima Castle. When Tomo Castle was built in the Keicho era (around 1600), it became connected to the mainland, and Nanrinzan Shakain Enpukuji Temple, which now stands on the site of Oga Castle, is a Shingon Buddhist temple that was built in this era.
