The head mound of Shikasuke Yamanaka, known as one of Amago's Three Greats

At the end of the Sengoku period, Shikasuke Yamanaka, a vassal of the Amago clan, who had been destroyed by the Mori clan, raised an army to restore his master's clan, but was killed at Kawai-no-Watashi on the Takahashi River in 1578 (Tensho 6). The last Shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate, Ashikaga Yoshiaki, whose headquarters was at Seikanji Temple, inspected Shikasuke's head.
