Utilizing an abandoned elementary school as an "art village"
Ikadatsu Elementary School, which was a popular elementary school until 1995, has been remodeled into an atelier where anyone can freely engage in artistic activities at any time, at the suggestion of local artists. While retaining the warmth of the nostalgic wooden school building, teachers and students engage in creative activities in classrooms for pastel painting, oil painting, Japanese painting, and pottery. In addition, the "Local Folklore Resource Room," which has a collection of local folk tools, evokes the past with its well-used feel. Visitors can view the exhibits in each classroom and try out pottery classes.
