A temple that is said to have been opened by Kobo Daishi during the Heian period

Officially known as "Kobori Yakushi Fukukoji Temple," it is said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi during the Heian period.
Twelve statues, including the principal image of Yakushi Nyorai and the Nikko and Gakko Bodhisattvas, have been designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan.
Near the temple gate on the temple grounds is a large 1,000-year-old cypress tree that has been designated a prefectural natural monument. The Kobori Yakushi Spring Festival is also held here in the spring.
