Ruins of a castle built on a low hill that is said to have been built by Yoshikawa Tsunetaka

This hill castle is located on a low hill north of the Oasa Basin and south of Mt. Kanbiki. It was built in 1313 (Showa 2) when Yoshikawa Tsunetaka moved here from Yoshikawa Village in Suruga Province (present-day Shimizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture). It served as his base for about 70 years until he moved his main castle to Ogurayama Castle. The remains of this castle make use of the tips of two hills extending to the south, each of which is independent. The steep mountain castle, carved into a slope at an altitude of 440m and a difference of about 30m, is a typical example of a mountain castle from the early Middle Ages. It was also known as Heikemaru Castle and Madokoro Castle.
