Higashi Hiroshima Observatory attached to Hiroshima University Space Science Center

It opened in May 2006 as an observational research and education facility equipped with the 1.5-meter diameter "Kanata" telescope. It captures and analyzes faint light from celestial bodies to study the structure and evolution of the universe and celestial bodies. The exterior of the observatory and telescope can usually be seen from the observatory plaza only during opening hours. The interior is only open to the public during special observation events and other events. Also, visiting at night is not permitted as it would interfere with observations.
