Hydrangea temple where 3000 stocks of 80 species are in full bloom

Nangu-ji is a temple located on the approach to Nangu Shrine. It was once a temple established to manage the shrine as a betto temple of Nangu Shrine. The name "Jinguji" was used to refer to a temple within a shrine during the period of Shinbutsu Shugo, but this is a historic temple whose name has continued to be used even after separation of Shinto and Buddhism. Currently, it is known as the Hydrangea Temple, with about 3,000 hydrangeas of 80 varieties blooming in full bloom. The Hydrangea Festival is held every year from early to late June. The temple grounds also contain the Fuchu Jinguji Folk Museum, which displays over 10,000 items of old daily life.
