The shrine and the altar were built in the early 15th century with the strong involvement of the Ouchi clan of Yamaguchi. They are the forerunners of the Tsumairi Palace style shrines that were common in the Setouchi region in the 16th century and are therefore highly valuable in architectural history. They are also extremely important when considering the development of the Ouchi clan's rule and culture in the Chugoku region.
