The largest burial mound in the Takigawa Burial Mounds on the east bank of the Toshima River.
This ancient tomb is located on a gentle slope at the foot of the mountain on the eastern bank of the Toshima River, a tributary of the Eno River, and is the largest of the eight Takikawa Tomb Group. The plan shape of the tomb is a square with sides of about 18m and a height of 4.5m. From the middle to the upper part of the mound, the slope becomes steeper, probably because this corresponds to the ceiling stone part of the stone chamber, and the top part is a long and slender dome. The internal structure is a horizontally-entered stone chamber that opens to the southwest in the center of the southern side of the square, has a total length of 10.7m, is horizontally U-shaped in plan, and is divided into an entrance passage and an antechamber by a gate. The date of this ancient tomb is estimated to be around the beginning of the 7th century, based on its features such as the horizontally-entered stone chamber made of long cut stone and the plan shape of a long rectangle with a constant width for the antechamber.
