It was formed by erosion on the Kurose side. Blessed with the beauty of large and small waterfalls and the valley, the countless caves in particular are a beautiful natural formation and are extremely valuable from a geological perspective. In 1949 (Showa 24), it was designated a prefectural Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. There is a difference in elevation of about 70m between the top and bottom of the second-class gorge. Falling across this difference in succession from above are Kiritaki (10m), Uzutaki (8m), Otokotaki (7.5m), and second-class waterfalls (upper Otaki, 18m, lower Metaki, 21m).
