Biggest tree in Hiroshima Prefecture
It is the largest tree in the prefecture (estimated age: about 300 years, with a root circumference of 2.2m). The Ogatamanoki is an evergreen tall tree of the Magnoliaceae family found in warm regions such as Shikoku, Kyushu, and Wakayama Prefecture. The Ogatamanoki tree here in Azamihara is located at the northern limit of the natural distribution of this species.
