Jodo-ji Temple is the head temple of the Shingon sect in Hiroshima Prefecture. It was originally a Ritsu sect temple of the Eison school of Saidai-ji Temple in Nara, and at the end of the Kamakura period, Josho became the chief priest and worked to restore the temple buildings. It later suffered a fire in 1325, but was rebuilt again. Today's main hall was built in 1327 by carpenters Fujiwara Tomokuni and Kunisada, at the request of Onomichi novice Doren and nun Dosho. It has a five-bay rafter structure, five-bay bays with a heavy hay structure, one bay veranda, and thatched roof. It has an esoteric Buddhism-style floor plan, with the outer sanctuary stretching out two meters to the front and the inner sanctuary at the rear.
