A rare building with a connected attic that spans an alley.
This building is representative of Saijo Sakagura-dori Street, with its lattice windows, white walls, and tea-tiled roofs.
It was the entrance to the Asahi-za theater, which was bustling in the early Showa period, and is affectionately known as the "Kugurimon Gate." On the west side is the Saijo Sakagura-dori Tourist Information Center, which houses a rest area, toilets, and a multi-purpose space, while on the east side is the Kugurimon Coffee Shop.
As a base for sightseeing along Saijo Sakagura-dori Street, the Saijo Sakagura-dori Tourist Information Center provides useful information for sightseeing, such as tourist maps, the day's opening times of the breweries, tasting information, and event information. Resident staff are on hand to provide guidance on how to enjoy your trip and answer any questions you may have.
