The three-bay pagoda, with its straw-thatched roof, was rebuilt in 1328. It is large for a pagoda and has a good overall balance, making it an excellent pagoda on a par with the pagodas at Kongo Sammai-in Temple in Koyasan and Ishiyama-dera Temple. It is considered a representative work of architecture from the end of the Kamakura period.
