From the top, you can overlook the rural scenery of the eastern part of Kitahiroshima Town, including the townscape of the Mibu district.

Kamakura PeriodIt is said to have been built by the Yamagata clan during the Kamakura Period, and fell to an attack by the Mori clan in 1536. There is a hiking trail from the grounds of Mibu Shrine at the foot of the mountain, and it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the summit. A promenade is maintained from the town road beyond Chiyoda Sports Park on the north side, and it takes about 10 minutes to walk from the parking lot on the middle slope to the summit. Takamine Shrine is located near the remains of the main citadel at an altitude of 357m (about 90m difference in elevation from the foot of the mountain), and the whole area has been turned into a park called "Ikoi no Mori". The view is also wonderful, and from the summit you can see the townscape of the Mibu district as well as the rural landscape of the eastern part of Kitahiroshima Town. The azaleas around the main citadel are very beautiful, so the Mibu Castle Takamine Park Azalea Festival is held every year on the third Sunday of April, and the place is crowded with people who want to see the azaleas.
