Shiraichi was established as a temple town in 1503 when Hiraga Hiroyasu built a castle on Mt. Hakusan. Until the railroad was built, Shiraichi was the economic center of the region, with many people and horses coming and going. From 1617, a cattle and horse market was held in the spring and autumn, and the current streetscape gives a glimpse of the past. Highlights of the streetscape: Saifukuji Temple, the former Kihara family residence (important cultural property), Yokokuji Temple, Koseiji Temple
