Kinoe's old cityscape

It still retains the appearance from the time when it flourished as an anchorage for ships on the Kyushu, Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe route waiting for the wind or tide during the Meiji and Taisho periods. In particular, the handrails on the second and third floors, the outdoor light with a shade under the eaves on the third floor, and the intricate architectural patterns inside the building recall the pleasures of the past.
