A Yamaguchi Prefectural Cultural Asset that retains the appearance of a samurai residence from the Genroku era

This Nagayamon gate of the Kagawa family, one of the five elder retainers of the Iwakuni domain, was built in 1693 by Kagawa Masatsune. It retains the layout of a samurai residence from that time well, and has been designated a cultural property of Yamaguchi Prefecture. In addition to this Nagayamon gate, the Kagawa family also had a service gate and a peacetime gate, and it is said that they were used differently depending on the family's status and purpose.
