A 90km long voyage that connects two world heritage sites in Hiroshima on the traditional Japanese-style ship "Kaidenma" of Osakikamijima.
This year, the Osaki people are heading to Miyajima again, aiming for further development of Osakikamijima and the Seto Inland Sea. The "Kaidenma Rowing Race" is a traditional event on Osakikamijima. It has a long history, boasting a tradition of over 200 years based on records alone, and has been selected as one of the "100 Island Treasures" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. However, in proportion to the island's depopulation, the number of rowers and caretakers is decreasing year by year, making it difficult to continue the Kaidenma. So, to protect the tradition, the "Traveling Kaidenma" was started. The young people of Osakikamijima came together and took action to revitalize the town.
