A traditional dance dedicated to Jodoji
This is a traditional dance that is dedicated to Jodo-ji Temple on August 18th of every even-numbered year. It has been designated an intangible folk cultural asset of Hiroshima Prefecture as "Taiko Dance." There are various theories about its origins, but one theory is that when Ashikaga Takauji was heading from Onomichi to Kyushu, the fishermen of Yoshiwa acted as guides, and this lively and energetic dance was performed to celebrate Takauji's victory in battle.
